De Facto Relationship

A De Facto relationship is when you and your partner have a genuine relationship and live together as a couple but are not married. Both parties must have lived together for at least two years before submitting the application.

Eligibility Criteria

Both partners have a mutual commitment to a shared life to the exclusion of all others.
The relationship is genuine and continuing.
You have lived together for at least two years and are not living separately on a permanent basis.
You are not closely related by family.

Couples who meet the De Facto Relationship requirements may be eligible to apply for permission to reside together in Ireland.

Sponsors can be an Irish national, a non-EEA national legally resident in Ireland or a UK national living in Ireland. Some non-visa required nationals may require preclearance before travelling.
